Hiring isn’t always a smooth process and the longer it takes the more it costs your company. If you’ve gone the traditional route of putting out advertisements and sifting through hundreds of entry level job applications only to come up short, it might be time to get a little more creative.
Here are a few ways others have found their ideal candidate by traveling the road less traveled.
Do Social Recruiting
Instead of posting an advertisement, some companies send out recruiters to look at social networking profiles online. Once they identify a potential match, they offer this person (who didn’t even apply for a job) the job. Others use social networking to attract the right candidate.
Hire a Client
Who knows your products or services better than your best clients? Sometimes this can work out if you need their expertise in some areas of your company, like in sales promotions.
Get Exclusive
Got someone who is begging to work for you and is probably a perfect match? Turn them down and wait for the response. If they only take that as a further challenge to convince you they are the fresh graduate job candidate you can’t do without, then you got a winner.
Hire Part-Time First
Offering internships or part-time work is one way to get people into the position quickly while not committing to hiring them on a full-time basis. If they don't work out, you can always try again.
Limit Your Exposure
You’ve heard to actually increase exposure to get wider publicity, but if that doesn’t work it's hard to limit your exposure to only your specific target demographic that are more likely to match your job requirements.
